About Us

Welcome to Gulf Region Aboriginal Corporation
RNTBC (GRAC)

GRAC is the native title body representing the interests and aspirations for the Lardil, Yangkaal, Gangalidda & Kaiadilt clans of the Wellesley islands and coastal mainland within the lower Gulf of Carpentaria region.

Our Vision

GRAC has articulated the following Vision Statement to provide strategic guidance and direction for the Corporation:

We are stewards of our Country, enhancing the natural landscape while increasing opportunities for the Lardil, Yangkaal, Gangalidda & Kaiadilt People and representing our Native Title rights and interests.

We do this through:

Advocacy by speaking on behalf of the Lardil, Yangkaal, Gangalidda & Kaiadilt People

Development of places that repair and enhance the natural values of our land and our people.

Attracting services and resources that support the advancement of Lardil, Yangkaal, Gangalidda & Kaiadilt People.

Communicating back to our communities and gaining feedback that will inform future projects. 

Our Aspirations

Governance & Administration

  • To be a self-run and self-sustaining Corporation
  • To continue improving relationships on the island for community benefit

Economy & Infrastructure

  • To create opportunities for employment and commercial enterprise for the Corporation and community
  • To increase tourism opportunities on Mornington Island
  • To improve the supply of goods and services within the region
  • To expand the Corporation’s infrastructure and resource base so that it can deliver more benefits to its members, the community, and the environment

Community & Culture

  • To facilitate an improved connection to Country for the Lardil, Yangkaal, Gangalidda, and Kaiadilt People
  • To enhance community health and wellbeing
